STRATEGY EXECUTION RESEARCH

LEADING EDGE RESEARCH IN STRATEGY AND EXECUTION

Strataegos Consulting conducts scientific strategic management research with a special focus on strategy execution. The aim of our strategy execution research is to contribute to a better understanding of this complex phenomenon and to disseminate insights and best practices about strategy execution. Our research is aimed at ascertaining the success and failure factor for strategy execution in public and private organizations around the globe.

STRATEGY IS USELESS WITHOUT EXECUTION

Strategic management and especially strategy execution is crucial to every organization. Organizations need to continually adapt themselves to their ever-changing environment. Developing a robust strategy allows organizations to adapt themselves to their environment. However, even the best strategies are useless without successful strategy execution. The ability to develop and execute a new strategy quickly and effectively marks the difference between success and failure for organizations in turbulent environments.

MOST STRATEGY EXECUTIONS FAIL

For decades survey after survey reveals that most strategy executions fail. No less than 60 to 90 percent of organizations fail to effectively execute their strategy. Many organizations have a fundamental disconnect between the development of their strategy and the execution of that strategy into concrete results. This is the strategy execution problem: the all too frequent failure to create change after a seemingly viable strategic plan has been developed.

PHD RESEARCH IN STRATEGY EXECUTION

Our research builds on the PhD research of Dr. Arnoud van der Maas. Arnoud received his PhD in strategy from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. Rotterdam School of Management is consistently ranked among the top 10 business schools in Europe. In his PhD thesis he identified 20 success factors that influence the success of a strategy implementation effort in public and private organizations. The Strategy Execution System was developed based on this research. This system forms the basis of the Strategy Execution Survey that allows organizations to assess how successful they are in developing and executing strategy.
